How to use Labels in Jira

 

Follow the steps below to Use (Create and Search) a Label In Jira

To Create a Label:

Go to Projects > Select a Project > Open an Issue > Go to Labels (Right sidebar) > Name the Label > Click on Mark.

To Search a Label:

Go to Search Icon (Left Side) > Click on Advance Search For Issue > Click on More > Find the Label (In dropdown list) > Search the Label (In Find Label Search Box)/

Click on ‘+ sign (Left side) > Choose Story from Issue Type (Dropdown list) > Write a Summary (A short overview of the Story) > Write Description (details of the story) > Click on ‘Create’ button.

  • The summary needs to be very Short and Concise.
  • Add a summary at the start of the Description.
  • Add acceptance criteria (when the acceptance criteria are met, we consider the story as completed) after the storyline.
  • Add a description with as much information as possible to explain the business logic of the Story.
  • Attach all the required resources/assets.

Follow the steps below to Create Epic, Story, and Task In JIRA:

 

To Create an Epic:

Click On ‘+’ Sign (Left side) > Change the Issue Type to Epic > Add Details (Name, Summary, and Description) > Click on the ‘Create’ button.

 

To Apply Epics to a Story:

Select any Story from Backlog > Click on Show More (in the bottom of the right sidebar) > Click on Epic Link > Select an Epic (from Dropdown List).

 

To Create Story/Task:

Click on ‘+’ Sign (Left side) > Change the Issue Type to Story > Add Details (Name, Summary, and Description) > Click on ‘Create’ button.

 

To Create a Subtask of a Story:

Go to a Story > Click on Create Subtask Icon > Name the Sub Task > Click on the ‘Create’ button.

 

To Create a Task:

Click on ‘+’ Sign (Left side) > Change the Issue Type to Task > Add Details (Name, Summary, and Description) > Click on ‘Create’ button.

Follow the steps below to Auto-assign an Issue:

Open Jira board (Active Sprints) > Go to Project settings > Go to Workflows > Select a workflow and Click on’Edit’ Icon (In front of the workflow) > Click on Diagram

You will see statuses and transitions represented by boxes and arrows, respectively.

Now, click on a Transition > Click on Post Function (in the popup) > Click on Add Post Function > Select a Function from the List > click on ‘Add’ button > Choose Assignee (Drop down menu of the Issue Field) > Select Field Value> Click on ‘Add’ button >Click on Publish Draft> Click on ‘Publish’ button.

Follow the steps below to Create a Custom Field with Default Text

 

First Create Custom Field:

Go to Projects>Go to Project Settings >Click on Fields > Click on Action (Top-Right side) > click on Edit Field> Custom Field (Bottom-Left side) > Now you are in Custom Fields JIRA admin.

Now to create a custom field, click on Add Custom Field (Top-Right side) > Choose a Custom Field > Click on ‘Next’ button>Enter the Name and Description > Click on ‘Create’ buttonSelect Boards to give them access(From List) > Click on ‘Update’ button.

 

To Add Default Value to the Custom Field:

Click on three dots (in front of custom field) > Click on Configure > Click on Edit default value >Put text in the Custom field> click on the ‘Set Default’ button.
